Our quiz night at HSBC Sports Club in Dore was a great success, thanks to everyone for coming along and giving so generously. And for those who found the questions too hard, what can we say.
Local company Formkraft are supporting Amy's Retreat this year through a number of events from car washes to sky dives! On Sunday 20 September, three members of the Formkraft team overcame their fear of heights to complete a tandem sky dive. The sky dive will take place at Langar airfield in Nottingham and the Formkraft team are working hard to raise money and publicity. You can sponsor the Formkraft skydivers at justgiving.com where you can still sponsor the team online and leave a message of congratulations.
We had a team of runners taking part in the Great North Run on Sunday 20 September. It was a great day, even though it was a little bit on the hot side for the runners! Well done to everyone.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the annual Amy's Retreat abseil event from the 80ft middle arch at Millers Dale. It was a brilliant day, highlights include the Hulk (aka Jordan Nilek) abseiling in tandem with his cousins, and seeing several people take the plunge, having arrived declaring that there was no way they would!
A great time was had by all at the annual Charity Day at the Cobden View in Crookes, Saturday 30 May 2009, on a beautiful sunny day. With BBQ, face-painting, cakes stall, tombola and jazz on the roof - it was a thoroughly enjoyable day with all funds raised going to Amy's Retreat. Thanks to everyone involved.
The B.F.G. Baby Shower took place at Whirlow Hall Farm, Sunday 31 May 2009, with donations to Amy's Retreat. Thanks are due to the efforts of Anna and Jo from the B.F.G. And the Amy's Retreat cake weighed 7lb 2oz! Thanks to Gill Smith for such a beautiful cake.
James Bond, personal trainer, held a charity aerobics event for mums, babies and toddlers at The Ivory, Saturday 23 May 2009, proceeds to Amy's Retreat.
On 8 and 9 April we held an Easter Event at the Rotary Centre in Castleton to mark the 100th holiday that Amy's Retreat has been able to provide, through the efforts and generosity of many, for families who have children with cancer. The event went well, thanks to the efforts of friends and supporters of Amy's Retreat. In particular we would like to thank: Dialogue Communications, Planet Pot, TESCO, Fit 4 Football.
